Every Day Novels will be serializing K.C.’s literary suspense novel Lifting Up Veronica, beginning on January 23, 2012.
The novel follows Michael Kovac, a sociologist from Ohio State University, as he travels to rural West Virginia in the summer of 1960 to shoot footage for a documentary during a week-long tent meeting at a Signs Followers church. The Signs Followers are a Christian sect best known for their practice of handling venomous snakes and participating in other potentially deadly practices…
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
K.C. Ball lives in Seattle, Washington, a stone’s throw from the waters of Puget Sound. She became an addict of the written word as a child in Ohio and began writing fiction full-time four years ago.
Lifting Up Veronica is her first novel. Her short fiction has appeared in various online and print publications, including Every Day Fiction (ten times), Analog (the venerable science fiction magazine), Lightspeed, Flash Fiction Online and Murky Depths (the award-winning British fantasy magazine).
In addition, her short stories have appeared in all three of the Best of Every Day Fiction anthologies and a collection of her work, Snapshots from A Black Hole & Other Oddities, will be published in November 2011 by Hydra House Publishing of Seattle.
K.C. won the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future award in 2009 and her award-winning story, Coward’s Steel, appeared in the Writers of the Future 26 anthology. She is a 2010 graduate of the prestigious Clarion West Writers Workshop and an active member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America.
She publishes and edits 10Flash Quarterly, an online magazine devoted to genre flash fiction.
